With its capital Bolgatanga, a terrific basket weaving hub, Upper East Region can be sited at the uppermost eastern corner of the country. This region is also the home of the ever friendly crocodiles of Paga.

Places of Interest:

• Bolga market:Here you can get the famous hand woven spectacular Bolga baskets, leather products and traditional clothing.
• Whistling Rocks of Tongo:These rocks rise dramatically from the landscape just 10km from Bolga and they produce an amazing ghostly whistling sound.
• The Paga Crocodile Pond: This is a sacred crocodile sanctuary. You can be photographed riding on the back of these friendly reptiles after they have been fed.
• Naa Gbewaa Shrine:Named after the founder of the powerful Mamprusi, Dagomba, Moshie and Nanumba states in the 11th century. He was believed to have sunk into the bowels of the earth after hearing of the demise of his son.
• Navrongo: Beautiful traditional mud built historic church.
